Whatcha Gonna Do

No need to go to work today Daddy, Lucy has it covered! Maybe the bad guys will stop in their tracks from cuteness?! It's been so cold and yucky here we took Lucy to Monkey Joes. A much needed break from some crazy cabin fever.

Let the Renovations Begin

For the past year I have not touched our new house; except for the bare minimum it took to move in such as appliances and paint (the house was a foreclosure and it was in ROUGH shape for only being 4 years old). I think I was a little depressed because I had just gotten our old house EXACTLY how I wanted it and to be honest I really didn’t want to move.

However, I decided my New Years Resolution was to snap out of it and start working slowly on this house! Since the house sometimes overwhelms me I thought I would start with the smallest room first, Lucy’s bathroom. Welcome to princess central.

First is the ugly light fixture, I am hoping to remove it and replace it with a chandelier.

Now:

What I am hoping for:

The sink and mirror will go in favor of a more regal look.

What is there now:

The style I am looking for:

On the walls I am going to try sponging a slightly darker color over. (but don’t hold your breath the walls may end up white)
Next I am having a very talented painter come in and paint a window with a scene from one of Lucy’s fairytale books.

The shower curtain will be really ornate drapes think velvet people.
And to finish the room off, a throne of a toilet. I want to incorporate a J in there somewhere.

My rough draft in foam board:

I will try to post again before it's done, remember this is all a plan and you know what they say about planning :)

On a side note if you can't tell I renovated my blog as well. The sweetest lady, Tara over at Our Princess in PigTails Designs did it. She is super sweet to work with and does a great job!

Pray for Mason

This is my cousin Brit's sweet little baby Mason. Mason is 7 weeks old and has a brain tumor.

Doctors found the tumor last week. He underwent emergency brain surgery on Friday but due to blood loss they only got 40-50% of the tumor removed. The doctors were going to wait till the end of next week to go in and remove the rest but due to some bleeding on his brain they are going to attempt to take the rest out tomorrow. Please pray for the doctors at St. Louis Children's Hospital and this sweet little boy and his family.

Happy Birthday to Mommy

My 29th Birthday was Tuesday. There is not a picture of me because I worked a 9 hour shift from 6am to 3pm and looked great awful by 6pm. I really like my part time job (part time is loosely used), I have worked the past 7 days in a row.  So we kept it simple Tuesday because I was so tired. Andy grilled and ordered a cake from my favorite bakery and we just hung out with family. The Monday before my entire family (yes including the girls, we are crazy) went to the Melting Pot for dinner. It was delicious as always.

How do I look?

Well at least she knows were it goes... I went into the closet to get dressed and come back into the bathroom to find her like this. She opened the drawer, got on her tippy toes, unscrewed the top and tried to put it on her eye. She loves to sit on my lap when I do my makeup. She is TROUBLE.

Play, Laugh, Grow

Today we had, as of late, a rare day off together.  We wanted to do something fun for Lucy and get her out of the house.  We narrowed it down to the Atlanta Zoo or The Children's Museum.  Mother Nature decided for us so we set out for the Children's Museum.   When we got there we bought tickets and Lucy held out her hand to the cashier for her customary wristband (i.e. Monkey Joe's).

We started out in the produce area and Lucy had a field day!  She loved to play house and use her imagination with food.  She loved to fill her grocery cart with a very well balanced variety of food, but she always left room for the slices of cake and a cupcake or two. She also really liked the cow and only jumped once when it mooed at her.

We sat down in the kitchen and she put food on everybody's plate (she is such the Southern Belle).

Then we went fishing in the water area and she enjoyed getting Daddy very wet.  Then we made a "fire" and did some "cooking" in Timbuktu.  She made sure everybody got a taste of her down home cooking!

We then went for a "boat ride," sat on a camel, and played with the trains.

Overall, we had a really good day of playing and using our imagination.  We left for home after eating lunch in the CNN Center and stopping by the Virginia Highlands Cupcake Factory for some REAL cupcakes.

Lucy's Hot Tub

Well I walk into the bathroom to find this.....

Don't dad's always make everything more fun?
He said it was too late to put bubbles in and she asked for bubbles.... He really is such a great daddy!

Renovation Ideas

I'm starting to work on the house. My first projects are Lucy's room and bathroom. I know what I want to do in Lucy's room I just need to do it :)
Next is the living room. The living room is another story.
I'm in love with this sofa. I want to stay with black, red, white/cream, and gold.

I love the framed TV concept I saw in the southern living idea house for over our fireplace. It's behind the wet bar in the "club room".

Here is the room now. Maybe I need to start by getting rid of the kid toys and putting them in her playroom ;)

Preschool

The preschool I want Lucy to attend started taking applications this morning at 9am. Andy, Lucy and I arrived at 8:30 they had 12 spots in the class.... as of 8:30 this morning the class was full :( I was so sad! Andy said he is not use to being rejected from things like this; I usually plan so far in advance we have no problems, but not this time. Andy and I really love the school it gives us that warm fuzzy feeling, not to mention the director could be the nicest lady on the planet.  Around 11:30 we got a call from the school saying THEY FOUND HER A SPOT! I am sooooo excited. My little baby will be going to preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays, how did she get so big? Now she can just slide right into their 3 year old class and I won't have to worry next year WHOOHOO. I should mention we are not members of the church were she will be going. The  preschool (Providence United Methodist) is about ten minutes from our house, our church (Christ our Shepard) is a 30 minute drive and we wanted something closer to the house; although we would of driven her if she had not gotten into this one.

Happy Birthday Evelyn!

Evelyn's birthday weekend started off with a small party at the art studio in Fayetteville. Tiffany tried to keep it modest this year, besides Lucy and Evelyn there were only 3 other kids in attendance. They painted princess castles and painted the icing on cupcakes. Here is a picture of the castle Lucy made.

Sunday was Evelyn's birthday and we spent the day going to Gnomeo and Juliet and eating lunch at Ted's Montana Grill (yum). Evelyn and Tiffany's mom share a birthday so she and Tiffany's brother joined us. Lucy did not like the movie as much as Tangled and we had to leave the theater twice for a little running around time. The movie was cute but it did not have as much music which really holds Lucy's attention.

The birthday week was capped off with a "big" girls trip to see Peter Pan in the Round at Pemberton Place in Atlanta. Evelyn, Tiffany, my mom and I saw the show, but it didn't start till 7:30 so we left Lucy at home with Andy and boy am I glad we did! The pirates were really scary which Evelyn found hilarious! We started the evening eating dinner and getting candy at Atlantic Station.  The show was a little disapointing and was NOT geared for children. The poor little girl in front of us cried when the pirates came out and the little girl behind us kept asking where the kids were; she did not understand that adults were playing the kids. The special effects were great but overall I would skip it as a family night.
