A Royal Sleepover

Like every other girl in the known universe I have been in love with Prince William since I was ten. I remember getting up at four in the morning to watch princess Diana's funeral and thinking how sad those two boys must be. So I wanted to celebrate this happy occasion in a fun way and decided to have a royal wedding sleepover. I worked till eight so we started a little late but we had a fun evening filled with eating fondue, watching royal wedding coverage and letting the "little princess" watch The Little Mermaid. We set the alarm for four and all crashed on couches and pack-n-plays around midnight. When the alarm went off we were ready for the big show, Lucy was the only munchkin to wake up (however she did manage to wake Evelyn up about an hour later by tickling her!) We enjoyed sipping tea, eating scones and eggs benedict, thanks again Tiffany. We all had a great time talking and speculating as to what she would wear. Everyone agreed he could not have picked a better bride and she could not of picked a better dress... well maybe, but I'm taken :)

I promise Lucy has other PJ's but she has gotten crazy about what she wears to bed and pitches a fit if these are not what I put on her.

Least Nutrious...Most Delicious Day of the Year!

Easter weekend, a time to "find eggies," see "Hop," and eat more candy.  The weekend started off on Saturday.  Muv came down to spend the weekend with us and she took Lucy to the Easter Egg Hunt in Peachtree City.  Lucy had a blast and got her face painted for the first time.  Apparently, she was a true professional and stayed perfectly still the entire time.  And boy did she love her pink nose!

Later that evening we colored "eggies" with Muv, Marmee, Poppa, Aunt Tiffany and Evelyn.  Lucy was very enthusiastic and liked to keep dunking the eggs numerous times regardless if the cup already had another in it.  She was used to the plastic "eggies" and didn't entirely grasp the delicate nature of the real ones.

The next morning Lucy was stunned to see that the Easter Bunny had come and left quite the sugary stash for her.  She proceeded to immediately open chocolates and candy while discovering the "eggies" hidden throughout the house.

We then went to the Easter service at Providence United Methodist Church.  Lucy did well and really enjoyed the music.

After church we headed over to Marmee and Poppa's for Easter dinner.  We then had another egg hunt with friends and family.  Lucy has become quite the expert at finding the eggs however she does become a little distracted by the candy within.

Next post...Lucy's First Dentist Visit.

Mantracker 2011

Many of the Georgia and Alabama law enforcement agencies get together once a year for training and competitions this event is called Mantracker. It was held this past week in Coweta County close to our house. This was Andy and his partner Maik's third year in a row participating. Tuesday and Wednesday classes were held from 7am to 11pm; yes, they were long days for all three of us!

On Thursday they held skill based competitions for the public to come watch.  Lucy and I showed up when Andy was in the bite suit (they take turns) playing the “bad guy” Lucy kept saying "daddy wiggle" Andy had to shake his body to get the dog off him :)  There were 36 dogs Andy and Myke were one of the last ones to go in the first round of the competition. The handler had to get the dog to apprehend (bite) one suspect and stop abruptly when he told the dog not to bite the second person.

Maik did it perfectly and Andy was informed that he was in the top five and would compete for top dog after dinner! We were both very excited.

They have a large BBQ for all the officers and their families and announced that the final dog competition would be held after dinner, there was a VERY large crowd to watch the final 5 dogs. The second part was difficult only 3 of the 5 dogs did it correctly.

The dog started at a marker and a "bad guy" walked out from behind a wooden door the dog was sent to "apprehend" him but a few seconds later was told not to attack that guy! A second guy came out from behind another door and the dog was supposed to "apprehend" him, most of the dog went after the first suspect! Andy and Maik did it perfectly and won Best Patrol Dog of 2011!!!! I am so proud of him!

A Mother's Prayer

I love Tina Fey, she just puts it out there for you! This made me laugh especially the last part because it is so very true! I say a slightly different version of this prayer every night but I know God hears what I don't say too :)

First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches.
May she be Beautiful but not Damaged, for it’s the Damage that draws the creepy soccer coach’s eye, not the Beauty.
When the Crystal Meth is offered, may she remember the parents who cut her grapes in half and stick with Beer.
Guide her, protect her when crossing the street, stepping onto boats, swimming in the ocean, swimming in pools, walking near pools, standing on the subway platform, crossing 86th Street, stepping off of boats, using mall restrooms, getting on and off escalators, driving on country roads while arguing, leaning on large windows, walking in parking lots, riding Ferris wheels, roller-coasters, log flumes, or anything called “Hell Drop,” “Tower of Torture,” or “The Death Spiral Rock ‘N Zero G Roll featuring Aerosmith,” and standing on any kind of balcony ever, anywhere, at any age.
Lead her away from Acting but not all the way to Finance. Something where she can make her own hours but still feel intellectually fulfilled and get outside sometimes And not have to wear high heels. What would that be, Lord? Architecture? Midwifery? Golf course design? I’m asking You, because if I knew, I’d be doing it.
May she play the Drums to the fiery rhythm of her Own Heart with the sinewy strength of her Own Arms, so she need Not Lie With Drummers.
Grant her a Rough Patch from twelve to seventeen. Let her draw horses and be interested in Barbies for much too long. For childhood is short – a Tiger Flower blooming Magenta for one day – And adulthood is long and dry-humping in cars will wait.
O Lord, break the Internet forever, that she may be spared the misspelled invective of her peers And the online marketing campaigns. And when she one day turns on me and calls me a B in front of Hollister, Give me the strength, Lord, to yank her directly into a cab in front of her friends, For I will not have that. I will not have it.

And should she choose to be a Mother one day, be my eyes, Lord, that I may see her, lying on a blanket on the floor at 4:50 A.M., all-at-once exhausted, bored, and in love with the little creature whose poop is leaking up its back. “My mother did this for me once,” she will realize as she cleans feces off her baby’s neck. “My mother did this for me.” And the delayed gratitude will wash over her as it does each generation and she will make a Mental Note to call me. And she will forget. But I’ll know.

Tomboy

This is what my little tomboy picked out to wear today :) You would never know she is a girl!

A Bunch of Bones

Lucy's new favorite thing (at least this week) is the Bubble Guppies. When she hears the music she comes tearing through the house to see the source. The songs I have to admit are kinda catchy; but she is hysterical when the bones song comes on, you would think she is trying out for American Idol!

Eat more Eggies?

As I walked out the door this morning at 6am tears came to my eyes; I was scheduled to work from 7am to 4pm and was going to miss hunting eggs with Lucy today. Around 9:30 I got a call on my work phone from the assistant manager, he wanted me to ask one of the guys if he wanted to go home early, well he didn't, but I sure did! I was in my car in 5min and on my way!
Trutt Cathy lives and started the first Chick-fil-a very close to our house, he also owns a VERY large cattle ranch about 30minutes away in Barnsville, called the Rock Ranch. In the fall the ranch is open every weekend with hayrides, a cho-cho train, and petting zoo. This year was the first year they opened for an Easter event. Lucy enjoyed a petting zoo, meeting the Easter bunny, picking strawberries, riding on the big slide and of course hunting "eggies". She had the best time meeting the Easter Bunny she ran straight into his arms, the pictures are priceless! They also have a big zip line for adults.
We did have one major melt down. They had the telling of the Easter story right next to the field that was  set up for the egg hunt. BIG mistake. All you could hear was screaming toddlers and frustrated parents. I guess you can only expect so much from a group of under 2 year olds :)!!!
I watch her like a hawk and she still gets into EVERYTHING!

The black eye is from a chair she pulled down on herself!

Running to meet the Bunny or Hop as he is known at our house!

My Girls

I love both of these little girls to the "moon and back" as Lucy would say. I know they love each other like sisters, and they are truly the light of my life!
Andy, thanks for watching them while the mommies got some Easter shopping in!

Yard Work (and Play)

Have I said lately I love my parents!? Exhibit A: I woke up at 6:10, on my off day, to help them with yard work. Yes I would say that is love :) If fact our whole family came over to pitch in (they really are great parents). We were done trimming, mowing, weeding, etc... by 11am and I still had lots to do in our yard.

I planted about 50 new flowers in our front yard and cleaned the patio furniture along with a few other things while Lucy got in her pool for the first time this year. Both yards look great, and I now have a fantastic tan.  Excuse my busted pot, it was a crazy winter and it broke during one of our freezes I have to add that to the honey do list!

Barney Live

Barney was super-dee-duper!
Mom and I took Lucy to see Barney's Birthday Bash in downtown Atlanta. We left my moms house and drove to Centennial Olympic Park and had dinner at a great burger stand . They have a spiked Twinkies shake :) mom and I went with the PBJ shake and burgers, Lucy had the chicken fingers, they batter them with hot sauce, kidda weird but Lucy still liked them.

Next we walked over to the main event. I have been telling Lucy she was going to see Barney for about a week now. I think it hit her when she saw all the barney balloons all around the arena. She kept saying "See Barney?"

We had great seats on the floor and Lucy was mesmerized. Her favorite part of the night aside from the popcorn and dancing with Marmee :) was the song about rain being lemon drops. For the past 24 hours all I have heard and seen is her throwing her head back, opening her mouth and saying ahahahaha!
